At a recent wedding, the minister referred to one of the ceremony readings and cited a television commercial as a modern example. A diamond commercial shows a man and a woman in a city square. He yells, “I love this woman!” and his booming voice scatters all the pigeons in the area. (She then whispers, “I love this man!” in his ear.) To the minister, this was an example of how the groom should act regarding his bride. He instructed him to consciously express love not only to her, but to the world.

As if on cue, the quiet groom said in a voice loud enough for all 250 guests to hear, “I love this girl!”

It was a moment that won’t soon be forgotten.
