KEOS Benefit Concert Saturday at 5pm

April 21st, 2008 · No Comments

As You Wish is a proud sponsor of this fine event. We love local/community/volunteer radio!

KEOS is holding a Benefit Fundraiser Concert Sat. April 26 at
StageCenter Community Theatre, 201 B W. 26th St. in downtown Bryan.
The concert begins at 5pm and will run until just past midnight.

StageCenter is located in the former 3rd Floor Cantina, home to many
concerts in the past, so the acoustics of the building are ideal for
the music being planned.

Singer-Songwriters Selia Qynn, Tom Tranchilla, Willie B and Saylor
White (with son, Kenyon) all from the Houston area will perform. Other
bands include the Neeley Lewis Band (a bluegrass group) and
rock band, The Guns of Detroit, both from the Bryan/College Station
area, as well as Sweet Mama Cotton (Houston) and Beth Isbell (Oklahoma
City). Beth is the front person for the psychedelic rock band, The
Dead Prophets hailing from Dallas, while Sweet Mama Cotton has played
at the Navasota Blues Festival in past years.

A donation of $10 (ten dollars) will help KEOS to keep continuing to
provide quality programming for the diverse community they represent.
More information can be found at KEOS’ website, www.keos.org.

Come see us at the event. Pose for a photo. You may even end up on the KEOS website. You could be famous!

The Fifth Annual Red Wasp Film Festival in Bryan, TX (19-20 October 2007)

BRYAN, TX–The fifth annual Red Wasp Film Festival was held this past weekend (October 19 and 20) at Conlee Auctions in downtown Bryan (601 S. Bryan Avenue). This was the second year that the film festival was organized by Brazos Progressives.

The festival screened twelve independent films submitted by filmmakers from across Texas and U.S., and the festival was capped off with a screening of “Nobelity,” a film by Turk Pipkin that looks at the problems of the world through the eyes of nine Nobel laureates (www.nobelityproject.org).

Festival organizers are proud to announce the winners of this year’s festival competition:

  • Judges’ Favorite: “Lonely Highway” by Dane Hurt, Jeremi Mattern, and Chris Walker (www.dangerfilms.com);
  • One to Watch: “Cyn” by Alex Ferrari (www.alexferrari.com); and
  • Audience Favorite: “The Tragedy of the Fallen Cherub” by local filmmaker Julio Olivera (www.youtube.com/Ovnio).

The Judges’ Favorite trophy was sculpted by artist Theodora Saladino Krc, and the winners received gift certificates from Caffe Capri, as well as gift certificates and bottles of wine donated by Square One Bistro. Red Wasp 2007 would also like to thank our additional sponsors:

  • Revolution Café & Bar,

Fall “Bridal Show and Benefit”(tm) a huge success!

September 17th, 2007 · No Comments

The Bridal Association of the Brazos Valley hosted a first-ever Fall “Bridal Show and Benefit”(tm) to give brides a chance to network with wedding vendors and to collect for the Brazos Food Bank.

We had 205 brides who comprised a whopping 60% of the guests at the show! We had a great turn out of both vendors and brides, raised some canned goods and had a fabulous event. It was a truly wonderful first year for a fall show and was an amazing show of this type.

http://www.asyouwishbcs.com/asyouwish_images/asyouwish-281t-t.jpg found the show to be a huge success. The day was very motivating and energizing. Now, I feel like I can really dive into those albums a couple of you have waited for!

Brazos Valley Bride

July 17th, 2007 · No Comments

Brazos Valley Bride, a publication of Bryan Broadcasting, is the official magazine (and program) of the First Annual Fall “Bridal Show and Benefit” hosted by the Bridal Association of the Brazos Valley, which benefits the Brazos Food Bank. Special thanks to Heather Moutray for her energies and diligence in getting this magazine to print and Carl Orozco for putting up with all the wedding vendors and their ads.

Look for in the Photographer’s Showcase section.
