“the ‘car’ is a Lamborghini?”
February 24th, 2008 · No Comments
Through an online forum for Texas photographers, I was invited to be part of a “car/model” shoot. One of the guys knew someone with a car. I figured it was a nice Mustang or Corvette. Another guy had a sister willing to model.
Imagine my surprise when I showed up to shoot a Lamborghini and the amazing Becky! They made a great–and patient–team while we all tried our shots. I didn’t get that many images, as I was a little new to the group and the circumstances. Next time, though, next time! And, I did have to laugh at the guys. They were taking more pictures of the car than they were of Becky. I’ll say that she made the car even more beautiful! And to think, her goal for the day was to get better facebook photos. I think we accomplished that!
The logo. A “must” shot.
The car set against the green grass surrounding A&M’s Bonfire Memorial.
And see, Becky makes it all better!

I wish I had realized there was a shadow on her face. Still, this is a sultry image!

I actually took this one with a wrong setting, but I like it. Some accidents are a good thing, like Post-It notes. I love the way her eyes sparkle in this one.

And this is more what it was supposed to look like.
Thank you, Becky. Thank you, too, to the owner of the Lamborghini. Both of you gave a lot for us to be able to get some unique shots for our portfolios. Wow! And, I owe you both a ~couple of drinks. ![]()

Charles’ surprise 60th birthday party
February 24th, 2008 · No Comments
Charles was “punked” by his wife, daughters, and sons-in-law (and the grandkids, too) for an early celebration of his 60th birthday.

Happy Birthday, Charles!
The cake was both cute and delicious!
Alexa’s sneaky Great Aunt Lori and Great Uncle Emil were trying to entice her to sneak some icing, but she’s smart enough to know better.
Surprise. (Come on in, Charles! The party’s for you!)
nom nom nom nom
Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Dear Charles, Happy Birthday to YOU!
May everything be just As You Wish!
Charles’ grandson, Peyton, didn’t seem to care much for barbecue.
Doesn’t Charles’ sister, Lydia, look smashing in her new glasses? (And doesn’t she look just like their mom? Dang this family ages well! I won’t tell their ages here, of course.)
Charles’ seemed a little embarrassed by the gag gift of Depend undergarments.
I’m just guessing, but this “Genuine Antique Person” shirt might have to become a sleep shirt for Elain….er, make that a lap quilt for the recliner.
And his really nice gift from the girls: a GPS gizmo for the truck!
Donna+, Matt, Peyton, Diane+, Jonathan, Elain, Charles, Alexa, Erin, and Tony
What a great looking bunch.
Charles with his beautiful daughters.
For this “with the grandkids” shot, we used Diane+ and Donna+ as bookends. They are due with grandkids number 3 and 4 this summer.
See the rest of the images in Charles‘ online gallery.

Grand Opening of The Nest
February 17th, 2008 · No Comments
Susan and Raymond have created a wonderful little retreat and spa on Royder Rd (on the right side just before you get to the turn for 7F) called The Nest.
was invited to The Nest’s Grand Opening, so I offered to shoot the event for her.

In celebration we share; in each other, we care.
The alpacas were wonderful to meet and to greet!
Even when “stuffed” they have coats all a fluff!
Their coat, when spun, makes dressing for winter fun!
Door prizes galore, from lots of local stores!
Susan is greeting; all about she is fleeting!
Handwriting analysis a popular “psychoanalysis”…
…and the food! oh my! Everything I must try!
Susan, a great hostess, didn’t forget! She gave favors to all of the guests
A firepit was built in memory of one…
…and our weatherman, Bob French, a few songs he had sung.
A spa blessing like none that you’ve ever seen…
…and the firepit dedication was a tear-jerking scene!
Of course, it’s not a party until something gets broken
New friends to love, and a bond that’s unspoken
It all come packaged in this place truly blessed
This woman and her hero? They offer The Nest!
Congratulations, Susan and Raymond. I can’t wait to come get a massage!

Camp Forman
February 17th, 2008 · No Comments
Over the years, we’ve had several friends have a Fish Camp (or a T or Howdy Camp) named after them. We’ve been to several revelations and watched as students surprised faculty and staff with treats and gifts (sometimes quite odd ones).
We were thrilled to be invited to the revelation of Camp Forman, named for our friend Tracey. We know that Chris & Melinda, her co-chairs, will select a great team of counselors and will produce a camp worthy of carrying the Forman name!

Amanda Bechtol engagment session
February 17th, 2008 · No Comments
We all enjoyed this engagement session. What a pretty winter day!
At Research Park, we had a lot of light filtering through the leafless tree branches.

We just had to stop by the famous Century Tree for the obligatory image!
Then, we were off to the “scene of the crime” where the proposal took place!
Thank you both for a lovely session! I wish you a wonderful wedding and a beautiful life together.

Hannah & John Bragg-Perez
February 17th, 2008 · No Comments
Hannah & John Bragg-Perez took a risk when they selected a January wedding date and wanted the formal photography made in the local park alongside the Comal river. But, Hannah wanted a Christmas wedding and was willing to take her chances. With unpredictable Texas weather, they got a beautiful spring-like day!

their rings, including the promise ring Hannah gave John

Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, New Braunfels, Texas

the brides family

Family “tradition” dictates that Roy, father of the bride, will escort his youngest kids down the aisle when they are too timid to go on their own. Here, he is carrying his eldest grandchild, Alex.

The beautiful day shined down upon the couple.

After the ceremony, we went outside for just a couple of shots while guests made their way over to the reception. I got these fun “spinning” images of Hannah. She loved the idea and was cracking up the whole time!

Now introducing, Mr. & Mrs. John & Hannah Perez!

We put all the kids on a train car for a great photo opp. Of course, most of them are too little to see over the seats!

And then, we put the entire wedding party on the car, too!

Hannah is holding the newsest member of the family, her niece, Caroline.

Hannah’s cousin, Maegan, brought note cards and encouraged guests to write notes and draw pictures. It was a blast to see all the funny things people said, like, “She’s Always Right!” and “Sometimes it is fun to sleep on the sofa, just never when they tell you to.” and “John, housework is your job, too.” Funny, there weren’t so many telling Hannah how to be a good wife….hmmmmmm……

One Czech tradition is the Grand March. Charles and Elain have been leading the Grand March for this family for years! The Grand March led into the couple’s first dance, surrounded by family and friends

While the bride and her father danced to an oldie, family and friends “she bopped” in the background!

Another Czech tradition is the Redovy (or Dollar Dance) where guests by a small shot of wine or whiskey and then dance briefly with the bride or groom. The songs just keep playing until no one is in line anymore. Its exhausting for the bride and groom, but gives them the chance to dance with everyone at the wedding and gives them a little extra honeymoon money.

Allison & Dominic LaRocca-Der Tatevasion
January 15th, 2008 · No Comments
Allison & Dominic LaRocca-Der Tatevasion had a special and beautiful ceremony and reception in Bryan, Texas. They were surrounded by family and friends and tons of love and support.
A very tender moment occurred when Allison’s dad, who grew up traditional Church of Christ and had never danced before, gave his daughter the gift of a father-daughter dance at her wedding.
